listening to the Deja Vu soundtrack

May 26, 2007

Specifically the Humvee chase segment, which appears to be mislabeled as ‘You Can Save Her’ on the album. Along with the track ‘Su-Chou Prison’ from ‘Spy Game’, also by Harry Gregson-Williams. Gets the blood pumping on a sleepy holiday weekend.

WWII bombers droning above

May 19, 2007

At Moffett Field, there are old bombers on display this weekend. For a price, you can ride one for 30 minutes, and for a much lower fee, you can just walk through them.

Around here, we tend to rush outside when screaming jets cross the skies. This morning, I dashed out when I heard the low, heavy, distinctive sound of the bombers as they flew by, just as exciting in their way as an F-16.

listening to The Lama’s Chants

May 16, 2007

By Lama Gyurme and Jean-Philippe Rykiel. Maybe chants are not quite the thing for a day when I’m falling asleep at the keyboard. But that might be chalked up to three nights of staying up reading Scott Smith’s ‘The Ruins’.

Pete Townshend and a song of you

Working with a software engineer and a mathematician, Townshend’s brainchild creates music from your personal data.

The Warmth of the Sun

May 4, 2007

Sometimes when I hear it, I’m back in my older son’s fourth grade classroom around the time he started wearing headgear, and I volunteered to help the kids learn DazzleDraw.

Those were the days when my boys listened to what I listened to. Chris used the song title in an assignment of sentences, and Mrs. Mentes gave him a smiley face or some positive mark for it.

Funny what sticks in the memory. Funny how songs bring it all back.
